As Seen In:
Our Clinical Approach
Our clinic was created from a shared vision: to offer thoughtful, high-quality psychological care that supports growth across the full arc of life.
-
Our clinical values and philosophy
Our work is trauma-informed, culturally attuned, and guided by a balance of clinical expertise and human connection. We believe effective therapy is built on trust, collaboration, and a strong therapeutic relationship — where people feel understood, supported, and held with care as change takes shape.

-
A practice designed for continuity across life stages
Our practice model allows us to seamlessly serve children, teens, adults, and couples. We offer psychological care alongside streamlined referrals, supporting a sense of continuity and belonging across different life stages and transitions.
Dr. Campbell primarily works with children, teens, and parents, while Dr. Macar focuses on teens, adults, and couples.

-
Care that supports meaningful, sustainable growth
At Arc Psychology, we engage clients in ways that encourage meaningful and sustainable growth. We work across the lifespan, supporting people at different points along their personal and relationship journeys with clarity, care, and intention.

-
A collaborative approach to care
Our model allows for individualized care first, with the option of coordinated support when it is clinically appropriate and beneficial.
When appropriate, we take a thoughtful team approach to care — for example, one psychologist supporting a child while the other works with the child’s parents as a couple. This allows for shared understanding, aligned perspectives, and care that feels integrated, connected, and cohesive.

I earned my Master’s and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Waterloo, where my training emphasized rigorous assessment, evidence-based treatment, and a deep appreciation for the nuanced and layered nature of people’s lives. I completed an accredited pre-doctoral residency through the Edmonton Consortium Clinical Residency Program, with clinical placements at Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, University of Alberta Hospital, Alberta Hospital Edmonton, and Grey Nuns Community Hospital.
Across both inpatient and outpatient settings, I have provided comprehensive psychological assessment and psychotherapy to individuals experiencing a wide range of concerns, including mood and anxiety disorders, complex and severe personality presentations, chronic pain, autism spectrum disorder, youth addictions, and psychosis. Throughout this work, my focus has been on offering care that is clinically sound, collaborative, and responsive to each person’s unique needs and life story.
My clinical training has also included work in Ontario at the Centre for Mental Health Research and Treatment (Waterloo), the Operational Stress Injury Clinic (London), and the Inpatient Specialized Mental Health Unit at Grand River Hospital’s Freeport Site (Kitchener). These diverse settings strengthened my ability to work mindfully with individuals, couples, and interdisciplinary teams across complex systems of care.
I have served as an Adjunct Clinical Supervisor at the University of British Columbia, where I trained and supervised Clinical Psychology graduate students in the delivery of evidence-based psychological treatments. I have also taught graduate-level coursework in psychopathology, reflecting a longstanding commitment to clinical excellence, mentorship, and the development of future psychologists. Previously, I worked as a Psychologist with the Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) team for the Ministry of Children and Family Development, conducting assessments with children, adolescents, and families, leading consultation teams, and supporting professionals in the design of effective, developmentally informed interventions.

I believe that effective therapy begins with a relationship in which you feel safe, respected, and able to be fully yourself. Within this collaborative space, we work together to clarify your goals, reduce life’s challenges, and support meaningful change that aligns with the life you wish to live.
As a scientist–practitioner, I aim to integrate the most advanced research findings with my clinical expertise, in a manner that is empathic and sensitive to the complex and unique experience of each person.
I am certified in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) through the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CACBT-ACTCC). My work is also guided by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), as well as interpersonal and self-compassion approaches.
-
My research and scholarly work have focused on understanding how patterns of behaviour unfold over time within close relationships, and how the ways people engage with one another influence emotional well-being and relational health. This includes research examining the impact of depressive symptoms within long-term partners, as well as the nuanced ways communication — both sexual and nonsexual — shapes connection and satisfaction. This research continues to inform my clinical approach, supporting work that is both empirically grounded and deeply attuned to the lived experiences of those I serve.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking, capturing life’s moments through photos, and adventuring with my family. I am curious about resilience, personality, and relationships, and I try to read about these themes as much as possible. I am also drawn to how culture shapes our identities and experiences, and I carry that lens into the therapy room.
Dr. Lauren Campbell
Founder and Clinic Director
( Kids. Teens. Parents )
Dr. Lauren Campbell is a Registered Psychologist and co-founder of Arc Psychology, with over 15 years of clinical experience supporting children, teenagers, and their parents. Her work is grounded in evidence-based practice and informed by a deep understanding of child development, family dynamics, and the importance of creating safety and connection early in life.

I completed my Master’s and Ph.D. in Clinical Developmental Psychology, as well as a specialized graduate diploma in Health Psychology, at York University in Toronto, one of the most multicultural cities in the world. This program gave me the opportunity to work in many different clinical settings (e.g., Canada’s largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital, a community hospital, and a private practice) and provided me with the privilege of working with diverse groups of people. I strongly believe in the importance of recognizing and valuing cultural differences and approach my clients with an open mindset.
In addition to three hospital-based internships at the Master’s and Ph.D. levels, I completed a year-long residency at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, followed by a two-year post-doctoral residency at BC Children’s Hospital.
My specialties centre around anxiety, feelings of sadness or low mood, emotion regulation challenges, and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). In addition to my work directly with children and teenagers, I offer parent-only consultation sessions — a supportive and dedicated space where parents can talk through their concerns, reflect, seek guidance, and feel more confident in how they respond to and support their child.
-
In my work, I aim to create a space that feels warm, nonjudgmental, and approachable, balancing compassion and connection with clear guidance. I work closely with each child and family and tailor care in a way that feels customized, meaningful, and practical. Central to my approach is the belief that children, teens, and their parents first and foremost need to feel safe, accepted, and understood in order to reflect, gain insight, and change. I strive to create a therapeutic space where clients feel comfortable showing up authentically as themselves, yet also inspired and confident to grow and move through change.
I use a flexible approach during sessions, drawing on a range of different techniques. I use therapies and techniques backed by science and research, such as CBT, ERP, SPACE, and DBT-informed approaches. In my work with younger children and their parents, I weave in principles from the Circle of Security Parenting Program (COSP) to strengthen parent–child relationships and transform dynamics. With younger children, I deliver sessions in a playful and engaging manner, often drawing on the use of play, art, and games.
A particularly meaningful part of my work includes advocating for children and teenagers beyond the therapy room. When appropriate and with family consent, I collaborate with schools, family doctors, and other community professionals to ensure that care is thoughtful, coordinated, and responsive to each child’s needs. My work is guided by deep respect for each family’s unique story and a commitment to fostering confidence, connection, and resilience over time.

My research has focused on understanding how children experience and move through distress, and how sensitive, attuned parenting supports the development of emotion regulation and long term psychological well being. By examining how patterns of distress unfold in early childhood, and how parent responses shape children’s coping and adjustment, I developed a deeper appreciation for the pathways of both risk and resilience in early childhood. This foundation continues to inform my clinical approach at Arc Psychology, where I integrate my strong research background in emotional development and parent responsiveness with a deeply relational, attuned, and individualized therapeutic approach.

In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors, spending quality time with my family, and exploring different parts of the city. I am the proud mother of two wonderful children. Parenthood continually humbles me and deepens my appreciation for the everyday moments that shape families. I am especially curious about meaning, purpose, and fulfillment, and how these themes unfold across different stages of life.
